Forma-Tech™ Thermal Mass
Thermal mass is a term that describes the thermal storage capacity of building materials (heat and cold).
Materials with high thermal mass properties including concrete have the ability to absorb, store and later release thermal energy making them more energy efficient than other lightweight building materials. This is particularly important for much of Australia where there is a dramatic difference between day and night time temperatures.
Forma-Tech’s internal double wall system thermal mass is located where it works best – on the inside. Simply stated, the Forma-Tech™ Wall Building Technologies restrict heat transmission during summer and reduce heat loss during winter. Combining efficient passive solar design with the Forma-Tech™high thermal mass wall properties and select insulation – more comfortable and even living temperatures can be maintained throughout the year with the added benefit of cheaper heating and cooling.
The Forma-Tech™ Wall Building Technologies can deliver long
term energy savings of up to 25% when combined with a concrete
slab and select insulation compared to a home built of light weight
construction materials with a low thermal mass.
